Cindy and Steve Peterson, the owner/operators of The Lake Inn at Mt. Sunapee, purchased the motel in May of 2011. The motel was built into the hillside overlooking Lake Sunapee in 1955 by Werner Johnson. It was originally named The White Birch Motel which was owned and operated by the Johnson family until the 1970's. It was later known as The Hospitality Motel in the 1980s and The Lakeview Motor Lodge in the 1990's. The motel was in disrepair when we purchased it and we have worked tirelessly to bring it back to life. The main reason we purchased this motel was the location and view. Every room has a large picture window that overlooks Lake Sunapee. Many guests have said, "You have a million-dollar view!"
During the 9 years of our ownership, we have replaced all of the comfort items, i.e. mattress/box springs, pillows, linens, comforters and room darkening draperies. We have had major purchases including the furnace, windows, doors, subfloors, carpets and linoleum. We have renovated the bathrooms with tile floors, new tub surrounds and refinished bathtubs. We added a paved lower level parking area and a fire pit. This past year we added a new stone patio seating area to the main level.
We operate the motel as our tag line states, "The Hospitality of an Inn, Hidden in a Motel". We take pride in every room being clean and comfortable and we work hard to ensure that every guest has a wonderful stay. Should you need anything while you are staying with us, you just need to ask.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Lake Inn at Mt. Sunapee.
Cindy & Steve
Perched at the southern base of Lake Sunapee, The Lake Inn offers splendid water views. Recent renovations create a cozy ambiance with comfortable beds and soft fluffy pillows. I also appreciated the convenience of the small refrigerator and microwave. Steve and Cindy, the inn owners, are delightful and eager to accommodate requests. The Lake Inn is a gem providing great value in a beautiful surrounding. I look forward to returning.
We found this Inn driving by on our way to Vermont. We stopped in to see if there was a vacancy and there was. It was older and not updated, but to us that added to the charm. The view of the lake was incredible and the sound of the frogs and birds was music to our city ears. The people running the inn are very sweet and helped give us directions to a local laundromat. Would definitely stay here again.
Very clean room! Loved the closed in balcony. Could sit out and take in the view of the lake without having to worry about the bugs. Room is spacious and very comfortable. Owners were very welcoming. Cannot walk down to beach, have to drive around < 2 min drive from beach. Coffee and small pastries available in the morning. Would highly recommend.
